The fastest way to find a car show near you in Texas this weekend is to check a statewide calendar, filter it to your region, and add the show to your phone before Saturday morning. Car shows, meets and cruise-ins get posted in a dozen different Facebook groups and flyers, and most of them get buried in the feed by Thursday. Here's how to stay ahead of it.
1. Start with the calendar
The Car Events Texas calendar puts car shows, car meets, cruise-ins, swap meets and track nights from across the state on one month view. Tap a day to see everything on it, or filter by event type if you only care about shows with judging and awards.
2. Narrow it to your region
Texas is big. A show three hours away isn't "near you." The upcoming events list can be filtered to DFW, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, Central Texas, East Texas, West Texas or South Texas, and you can search by city.
3. Know the difference between event types
- Car shows usually have registration hours, classes, judging and awards. Expect an entry fee for show cars and free or cheap admission for spectators.
- Car meets and cars & coffee are casual. Show up, park, walk around, leave when you want. Usually free and usually early in the morning.
- Cruise-ins are evening meetups, often in a restaurant or shopping center lot.
- Swap meets are for buying and selling parts. Bring cash and get there early.
- Track and drag nights include test-and-tune and grudge nights at local tracks. Check tech rules before you go.
4. Add it to your calendar
Every event page on Car Events Texas has an "Add to calendar" button. Use it. Registration windows for car shows are often only a few hours long, and the awards are usually in the afternoon.
5. Join the group for the weekly roundup
Join the Car Events Texas Facebook group. Every Thursday we post a "This Weekend" roundup with the best Texas shows and meets coming up, and members post flyers all week. The homepage's This Weekend section shows the same lineup any time you check.
6. Confirm before you roll out
Weather cancels shows in Texas, especially in spring storm season and the heat of August. Check the event page and the host's Facebook page the morning of the show.
