Car Events Texas (“we,” “us”) runs this website, a statewide calendar of Texas car shows, meets, cruise-ins, swap meets and track events, along with our event promotion services. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. The site is hosted by Shopify.

Information we collect

  • Event submissions. When you submit an event, we collect your name or club name, email address, optional phone number and Facebook link, and the event details you provide (name, date, times, venue and address, entry fee, registration and flyer links, and notes).
  • Purchases. If you buy a promotion package, we collect your name, email, billing details and order information. Payments are processed by Shopify and its payment partners. We do not see or store your full card number.
  • Messages. Anything you send us through the contact form or on social media.
  • Device and usage information. Like most websites, we and our service providers automatically collect information such as your IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed and how you arrived at the site, using cookies and similar technologies.

Information we publish

Event details you submit for listing are meant to be public. Once approved, the event name, date, times, venue and address, entry fee, host or club name, description, links and flyer may appear on our website, in the Car Events Texas Facebook group and on our social media. We do not publish your personal email address or phone number unless you include them in the event details or ask us to. Please don't include personal information about others in a submission without their permission.

How we use information

  • To review, publish and update event listings, and to contact you about your submission
  • To deliver promotion packages you buy, such as blog posts, social posts and featured placement
  • To process payments, prevent fraud and keep the site secure
  • To understand how the site is used and improve it, including through analytics
  • To comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Service

Cookies and analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies to run the site (for example, to keep your cart), to measure traffic, and, where allowed, for advertising. We may use Shopify analytics and Google Analytics, and if we run ads, advertising tools such as Google Ads and the Meta Pixel. Where required, we ask for your consent through our cookie banner, and you can change your choices at any time. Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address when the font files load.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information for money. We share it only:

  • With service providers who help us run the site and our business, such as Shopify (hosting and checkout), payment processors, analytics providers, and advertising platforms where you have allowed it
  • With an event's organizer, if you contact us about their event and ask us to pass along your message
  • When required by law, to protect our rights or the safety of others, or as part of a sale or transfer of our business

Your choices and rights

Depending on where you live, including under the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or get a copy of your personal information, and to opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal information, or profiling. To opt out of targeted advertising and data sharing, visit Your Privacy Choices. We honor Global Privacy Control signals. To make any other request, contact us. We may need to verify your identity, and we will respond within the time the law requires. If we deny your request, you can appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond to your appeal within the time required by law. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.

How long we keep information

We keep event listings on the site, including in our Past Events archive, for as long as they're useful to the community. Ask us to remove a listing you submitted and we will. We keep other information only as long as we need it for the purposes above or as the law requires.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no website or online transmission is completely secure.

Children

This site isn't directed to children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has given us personal information, contact us and we'll delete it.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. We'll post the new version here with a new “Last updated” date.
